WEEK 10
Teamwork
For the duration of the past week, my team and i have just been finalizing and finessing the last details of our presentation. We have ensured that all the information on the slides, and the additional information we will be discussing individually, is all relevant to the problems that the company is facing, and we believe that we have provided sufficient solutions to these problems. We are going to be filming our presentation today, and we are all excited to see what the final product is going to be like.
I am very happy that i was able to be in a group with my fellow team members. We all got along and worked very well together, even under pressure. Overall, i am very impressed with the task we have submitted and i am proud of the way that our group has been able to work together on this task.
Reflection
This week, we had the head of the Sustainability department of our university, James Whittingham, come and speak to the class about the importance of sustainability. He asked the class to think bout various questions all relative to sustainability in order to make us think and give us an idea of where he was going with the lecture. He spoke about how important sustainability is, especially for large businesses because their emissions and waste has a major effect on the environment. However, he also spoke about how much of an impact doing little things like reducing gas and water usage has on the environment, and how important it is that everyone is conscious of what they are doing that could be adding to their carbon footprint. The way we live, so dependent on technology has major impacts on the environment which in turn has major impacts on everything else. Carbon emissions cause holes in the ozone layer, which escalates the rate of global warming, which changes the climate and therefore changes crop production etc. It is very important that we are all taught about sustainability because it is a major issue in this day and age, and will continue to get worse if people do not do the necessary actions it takes to promote sustainability. The information that was given to us by James was extremely interesting and it was very relevant to everyone because we are all on the same page with this issue. He also mentioned companies that are making considerable efforts to promote sustainability, such as Tesla, who had made the first fully electric car.
In this week's seminar, we were given time to work on our blogs and presentations which was really helpful as it allowed us more time to fix any errors we may have missed.
